What Does the Narrowband UVB Procedure Entail?
This form of phototherapy can be performed on small areas of the body using a portable UVB light or on large areas of the body with light boxes for full body exposure. Your treatment will take about 1-10 minutes and the length of your sessions may increase week to week. We usually require 2-3 treatments per week over the coarse of 12-15 weeks. After your 15th week we recommend weekly maintenance. Following your therapy session we ask patients to wear UV-absorbing sunglasses for 24hrs after your treatment.
Are There Side Effects With Narrowband UVB Phototherapy?
Narrowband UVB phototherapy has been shown to be less risky than other forms of phototherapy but with more benefits. You may experience a sunburn effect which can be treated with lotions or steroids.
