Electrodesiccation and Curettage

Electrodesiccation and Curettage is a surgical treatment performed on patients who suffer with non-aggressive skin cancers such as basal cell carcinomas and squamous cell carcinomas. This in office treatment is fairly painless and has minimal recovery time.

Why should I get the Electrodesiccation and Curettage procedure done?

  • Non invasive
  • 93% success rate
  • Nearly painless

What should I except during my treatment?

After numbing the area, we will then scrape the top portion of cancerous skin off and heat seal the area with an electrical device. This process will continue until we feel as though we have adequately removed the cancerous area. Ointment will be applied to the area and then bandaged. This procedure may be repeated 2-3 times depending on the size of the area that needs to be treated. The wound will not require stitches and only take a few weeks to completely heal.

You can watch a video of the procedure here, from the American Osteopathic College of Dermatology.
