Dr. Jason Swerdloff is our Board-Certified facial plastic surgeon at Bay Dermatology in Tampa. He performs forehead lift procedures to restore skin of the forehead, eyebrows, and upper eyelids. Learn more about the procedure and how it may help you reach your cosmetic goals below.

What is a Forehead Lift?

A forehead lift is a cosmetic procedure used to lift sagging skin around the forehead, brow, and eyelid areas. It may also be used to eliminate excess fat stored in these areas.

As we age, our skin produces less and less collagen, often leading to sagging of the skin. A forehead lift is one of many procedures that may restore aging skin to its youthful appearance by addressing sagging. It may also reduce the appearance of wrinkles in between the eyes and on the forehead.

Lines or creases in the forehead can also develop due to stress, medical conditions, genetic factors, or excessive muscle contractions. A forehead lift may work to improve the appearance of the forehead in people of all ages.

What Are The Benefits?

A forehead lift may provide benefits for the appearance of the face, including:

  • Reduction of furrows in between the eyes
  • Reduction of forehead wrinkles or creases
  • Resolution of functional problems of the nose
  • Reduction of sagging of the upper eyelids
  • Reduction of sagging or asymmetrical eyebrows

Overall, it may improve the appearance of the face by smoothing and lifting the skin for a more youthful look.

What Can I Expect From the Procedure?

Before a forehead lift procedure, you’ll meet with your doctor for a medical exam and consultation. You’ll review your goals for the procedure and potential risks. Your doctor will work with you to determine if it is right for you.

Prior to the procedure, you’ll be required to stop taking certain medications. You may also be required to stop smoking. Your doctor will inform you of all precautions that must be taken prior to surgery to minimize bleeding and ensure the best possible success for the procedure.

A forehead lift is typically performed in your surgeon’s office, a hospital, or a surgical facility. Either general anesthesia or local anesthesia in combination with a sedative will typically be administered.

After the procedure, you’ll likely need to keep your head elevated for the first two to three days. Bruising and discoloration of the treatment area will fade within a few days to a week. Sutures can be removed approximately a week or two following the procedure.

Patients can typically return to work ten days after a forehead lift, at minimum. Strenuous physical activity should be avoided for several weeks after the procedure, and sun exposure should be avoided for several months.

We’re happy to offer forehead lifting as a cosmetic procedure at Bay Dermatology in Tampa. Dr. Swerdloff is a highly experienced cosmetic surgeon and can help you attain outstanding cosmetic results. Contact Bay Dermatology today to learn more about the procedure and to schedule an appointment.
